Our Story

A Dream is Born

Art from the Mural of the Port of Cotonou representing the 'Zémidjans' drivers - The name derives from the Fon language, translating to 'get me there fast'

The first time I set foot on Beninese soil, something shifted. I was surrounded by color—vibrant, bold, unapologetic fabrics that West Africans wear with a pride and elegance I had never seen before. It felt like walking through a fashion show, where every person carried themselves with a confidence that their clothes were an extension of who they were. My western wardrobe suddenly felt lifeless. Boring. Without soul.

MIB was born in that moment. We are not just a fashion house, but a bridge between worlds, Cotonou - a city of ocean air, market rhythm, and artisan pride, and the whole world. Our sketches are love letters to the fabrics and silhouettes - wrapped in warm, vibrant Ankara fabrics. We wanted garments that could stand confidently in Brooklyn, Sao Paulo, Ouidah, Paris, or wherever you are - while still whispering the cadence of Cotonou.
