Meet the Founder
Tatiana R. Souza is the Founder and Creative Director of MIB — a West African fashion brand rooted in Cotonou, Benin, and proudly based in Brooklyn, New York.
Born in Brazil and based in New York for over 12 years, Tatiana is a passionate traveler, language lover, and cultural storyteller. She has visited over 20 countries across the globe, but it was Benin that captured her heart.
In just over a year, she returned to Benin four times — building relationships with tailors, cutters, and makers, and with the incredible women at the local markets who helped her find the most beautiful Ankara fabrics. She put her French to work in conversations, negotiations, and laughter. She sketched, she dreamed, and she created.
Tatiana is the sole designer behind MIB's collections — sketching every piece, drawing inspiration from the fabrics, colors, and stories of West Africa. Each piece is brought to life by the skilled hands of Beninese artisans, who pour years of experience and deep expertise into every stitch.
She is committed to ethical production, fair partnerships, and building a brand that honors the people and places that inspire it. For Tatiana, MIB is not just a fashion brand — it is a bridge between worlds, a celebration of the people behind the craft, and a story worth sharing.
Say hello to Tatiana at [email protected] — she'd love to hear from you.
